We build gear that gets worn — and we stand behind what we make.

When you buy from Grim Hats, you’re not buying “stuff.” You’re buying craftsmanship made to be used, abused, and shown off. If something fails because of how we made it, we’ll make it right.

This Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the product exists.

If it’s our fault, we’ll repair it, replace it, or rebuild it — depending on what makes the most sense.

What’s Covered

Materials & Components (Manufacturing Defects)

• Hats & headwear construction (panels, seams, sweatbands, closures)

• Patch materials we apply (including our premium leatherette patches)

• Hardware we install, including:

  • Snaps

  • Buckles

  • Rivets

  • Grommets

  • D-rings

  • Zippers (if applicable)

  • Other metal hardware used in construction

Workmanship

• Stitching failures caused by manufacturing

• Seam separation

• Attachment failures (patches, labels, closures) caused by manufacturing

Applies To

• Stock products purchased directly from GrimHats.com

• Custom-made products

• Domestic and international orders

What’s Not Covered

We make tough gear — but nothing is indestructible. This guarantee does not cover:

Normal Wear & Aging

• Fading, patina, or natural breakdown from time and use

• Minor scuffs, scratches, or cosmetic wear

• Stretching/shape change from regular wear, sweat, weather, or heat

Damage From Use, Accidents, or Abuse

• Cuts, tears, punctures, burns, or heat damage

• Crash/impact damage

• Pet damage (scratches, chewing, etc.)

Modifications & Alterations

• Customer-added hardware, decorations, or embellishments

• Dyeing, chemical treatments, or harsh cleaners

• Alterations done outside of Grim Hats

Improper Care

• Machine washing/drying (unless the specific item says it’s safe)

• Damage from bleach/solvents/household cleaners

• Mold/mildew from improper storage

• Water damage from neglect or prolonged soaking

Patch Policy — Read This

Because we’re a patch company, here’s the real rule:

• Patches we apply as part of your order are covered under this guarantee for manufacturing defects.

• Patches added after purchase (by you or anyone else) may void repair eligibility if they prevent us from properly inspecting or repairing the item.

Why? Once something is permanently altered, we can’t always verify what failed first — the product or the modification.

If you’re planning to add anything after the fact, make sure the item fits and meets expectations first.

How to Keep Your Guarantee Valid

DO:

• Spot clean gently (mild soap + damp cloth)

• Store in a cool, dry place

• Keep out of prolonged direct sun when not in use

DON’T:

• Machine wash or machine dry

• Use harsh chemicals, bleach, or solvents

• Store damp or in humid conditions

• Leave in extreme heat (car dashboards, near heaters, etc.)

How to File a Claim

Email us with:

• Your order number (if you have it)

• A quick description of the issue

• Clear photos:

  • Close-up of the problem

  • Full product shot

  • Any tags/labels (if applicable)

Once we review it, we’ll reply with next steps. If approved:

• You cover shipping to us

• We cover shipping back to you (after repair/replacement)

If the original item is discontinued, we’ll offer the closest replacement or an equal-value alternative.
